SALT LAKE CITY — A brush fire that burned next to I-215 and kicked up a lot of smoke temporarily forced officials to shut down a portion of the freeway.
Northbound I-215 was closed at California Avenue about 12:30 p.m. The fire burned between 4 to 5 acres. No structures were damaged and no one was injured.
The freeway was closed for about 20 minutes.
According to the Salt Lake City Fire Department, there was evidence that the fire was started unintentionally by someone in a nearby transient camp.
